WHO ARE WE?
Founded in 2021, Evanston Grows is a collective impact organization dedicated to bringing together resources in the Evanston community to reduce food insecurity through increasing access to locally-grown produce and building community connections.
Evanston Grows brings together diverse stakeholders—including non-profits, community gardens, private residences, schools, and businesses—to develop a common agenda and solutions for addressing the inequity in our community that has resulted in food injustice.
OUR MISSION
Evanston Grows mission is to increase healthy food access, promote food literacy, and advance health equity by building a local fresh food system that is more just, sustainable and resilient.
VISION
Our vision is a collaborative, just community where everyone is ensured access to the healthy food and vital resources they need to lead healthy lives. We are committed to dismantling health disparities born from systemic racism, and to strengthening local, sustainable agriculture to support the unique, diverse, and evolving nutritional needs of all.
The farms and gardens supported by Evanston Grows are cultivated by and for the communities where they are located. Each space is designed to welcome neighbors to grow, harvest, share, and enjoy LOCAL, FRESH food together.
